Gansevoort - Moreau Lake State Park

605 Old Saratoga Road
518-793-0511

Moreau Lake State Park's lake lies amid hardwood forests, pine stands and rocky ridges. Shady groves of trees shelter picnic grounds and a pavilion overlooking the lake. Wooded campgrounds are quiet and secluded, offering facilities for group campers, as well as tent and trailer sites. Two pavilions, each with a 120-person capacity and a 20'x30' tent which can accommodate up to 75 people, may be reserved on a daily basis. The sandy beach, nature, hiking and cross-country ski trails, opportunities for boating, fishing and ice fishing, and proximity to the Saratoga Springs and Lake George areas make the park attractive to visitors.

This visit is awesome, fun and adventurous. We rented one of the cabins for the weekend. The cabin and the walls were as cold as Antarctica until 3 hours later with the help of the wood stove our breathes were no longer visible. Hey it's winter and we're ready to do it again no problem. Once the cabin was warm it was easy to maintain a habitable environment that didn't necessitate multiple layers for cold weather survival. The wood stove also proved competent to maintain hot coals for hours while we were enjoying the beauty of the park hills and lakes. One commendation is to have a pair of crampons for navigating the icy trails. I also have to mention the awesome park personnel, second to none. They we're all very helpful and very, very pleasant. We live only 15 minutes from here and can't wait to come back. We highly recommend the park, but forget about the Bear cabin it's all ours. Bev and Bill

Great place for a family picnic. Every year for the last 6 years my husband and I, and his family have gone here for the fourth of July. We get there at 8 am when they open. Decent prices and a beautiful place to get away from the city. It's peaceful and pretty. You can read, swim, cook, go for walks, etc. I recommend this place for holidays with the spring, summer and fall. We've actually had the same exact spot every single yesterday when we go. Refreshing and breathtaking.

Great place for year round outdoor fun. Hiked there twice this winter and enjoyed it. Beach is nice in summertime but I haven't been to beach in a couple of years.

Nice State Park to visit. I come to fish both summer and winter. Pretty clean. Super friendly staff. I think the campground gets very crowded during the summer. Not a lot of fisherman though.
