Moreau Lake State Park

605 Old Saratoga Road
518-793-0511

Moreau Lake State Park's lake lies amid hardwood forests, pine stands and rocky ridges. Shady groves of trees shelter picnic grounds and a pavilion overlooking the lake. Wooded campgrounds are quiet and secluded, offering facilities for group campers, as well as tent and trailer sites. Two pavilions, each with a 120-person capacity and a 20'x30' tent which can accommodate up to 75 people, may be reserved on a daily basis. The sandy beach, nature, hiking and cross-country ski trails, opportunities for boating, fishing and ice fishing, and proximity to the Saratoga Springs and Lake George areas make the park attractive to visitors.

A beautiful state park with a great beach area! The water is clear, the bathrooms are clean and the snack shop has decent prices. Lots of picnic tables in the shade. There are boats, kayaks and paddle boards to rent. The Nature museum is an extra touch. We have visited several times and we always have an enjoyable time.

I can't believe this park has such a high rating. It's an overused, overcrowded park full of the dregs of society. Cars parked everywhere on the side of the road to the point you can barely get by. This place reminds me of beaches on Long Island. On a recent visit people were practically shoulder to shoulder on the beach. Want to fish? Good luck finding room on the lake or an empty spot on the shoreline. Total waste of time going here.

This is a great park in all seasons. The picnic area is HUGE and has plenty of tables and grills. There are three sets of playground equipment, all in good condition. The bathrooms are in decent shape. The lake is beautiful to hike around, and there are many other trails in the park. The beach is gigantic. The lifeguard staff seem a little overzealous in their rule enforcement, but I suspect it is because of insurance requirements more than anything. All in all a lovely and very convenient (right off of the Northway) state park.

Pros: Pretty lake. Some nice easy hikes if you have kids. Kid friendly beach. Plenty of room and privacy at camp sites. Good fishing in the lake. Cons: Highway noise at sites. Beach was pretty crowded on the weekend.

Beautiful state park, just off the interstate. Campsites are big and private. No services on the sites, but there is water anailable. The park is pack in, pack out, so there are no trash containers, except at the ranger station. That system seems to work, as the park is very clean. There is a nice lake and easy trails around it. Great place to bring kids. Lots of picnic tables scattered around.
